In The Institute of Printmaking and Publishing the concept of the creative user, referenced to Jonathan Hill, is explored through the physical process of printmaking and the architectural language of the Institute. The idea of a journey that punctuates the main enclosure occupied by printmaking studios and a groundscape given over to protest and activism alters the existing relationship between the existing site and the immediate context. Part object, part landscape, part building, this proposal serves to create community spaces by metabolising the area in response to building back better.
